I am a Japanese college student, now, am inquiring about the charm of the comics seen from the foreigner by the graduation thesis of the university, and use “rurouni kenshin ”as the subject matter.
Please tell me the charm of “rurouni kenshin” which you consider about a story, depiction, a character, etc.
I will reply to your question when I have more time to write something. You should also ask your questions about Rurouni Kenshin on this forum

You will probably get more replies there.
Thank you for your reply. The homepage which you taught is very helpful.
Thank you very much.
The serious aspect of Rurouni Kenshin is what appeals to me. Beyond the romantic comedy and the many fights against bizarre opponents, there is a real sense of the pain of war, of what it means to have memories too terrible to bear. That Kenshin is a person who continues to hope despite that burden, and who continues to believe in the value of life is inspiring to me.
Rurouni Kenshin is not about trivial things, such as school life. It does not give shallow explanations, like saying a person has a dark side because there is a fox demon inside them. There is no magic. There is no obvious right answer and no wise, old character to explain things. Imperfect characters must struggle to make moral choices in an imperfect world. Himura Kenshin is admirable because of his sense of mercy. Because he sees himself as a sinner, he has pity on his foes. Saitou Hajime made different choices, but he is also an admirable character because of his dedication to justice. Even the villain, Shishio Makoto, has a philosophy that compels him to act the way he does. They are more like characters in a novel than like characters in an anime.
So my answer to your question is probably not helpful to your thesis. I like Rurouni Kenshin because it is NOT like most anime. It is more like literature.
The hot guys, the gripping story line, the kick-ass sword fights.
Also, for all the reasons Magpie listed.
I also liked the historical aspect. I like to read about history and learn about the past because the more I learn about it, the more I realize that though the time and location may change, human nature is the same the world over.
I would have to say all the action and comedy romance though mostly action...
