Well, my mom spoke with the principal one time about a very bad math teacher and he smartened up afterwards. I think it depends on how you report them and who you talk to. I think molestation is a serious crime - aka prison sentence. I mean, don't you think people's parents would care and file charges? But that's just my opinion.

I guess if you have to get into Stanford, Berkeley, etc then AP it is. But honestly, having taken them and am in university - they don't really help. They kind of get you in and then become really pointless. Oh well, parents never listen...

Wow, some of your teachers really do suck o.o;; I haven't had many problems since I graduated high school, but back then I had some crappy teachers too -- one in particular just could not teach his material, even though he'd been doing it for years and years (one of the girls in that class with me said her mom had had him and that her class tried and failed to get him fired because he was such a bad teacher). I'm a good student, and his was the first class I had to bring home a "progress report" because I wasn't doing well. Basically, everyone in my class except for those naturally inclined to understand physics hated him.

As for AP classes, I'm really glad I took them, because for me, this meant having a whole class of people who could use their brains, rather than having class with a few insightful people and a lot of fluff heads. ... And I think the teachers were much more relaxed and likely to treat the students like human beings. I think AP Government and AP English were about the best classes I took at my high school. Taking AP Calculus in high school also meant that I don't have to take any math in college, which is really nice Tongue

Really? People in my AP classes were arrogant jerks who thought they were better than everyone else and were really condescending. They thought they were the academic hot shots...of the world. And as for the AP teachers, they all sucked up to the most arrogant of students and ignored everyone else (1/2 of the class) who weren't in math contests, etc. And my AP physics, calculus, and biology teachers weren't relaxed. They were hardcore about who got the best grades and had the potential to be like...national merit scholars, etc - basically students whom they could boast about in future years in case any of them ever won something like a nobel prize. There was a lot of academic bullshit going on that was lame because 99% of the AP hot shots turned out not even going into science (my science AP teachers were the worst about that kind of elitism). A lot of the AP teachers didn't even try to teach actual more advanced math or science, they basically made everyone do a lot of mock exams which is good practice, but you should like...understand theory. Since my major is biochemistry, I can say without a doubt that AP science did help a tiny bit for first year but after that, it's hardcore and you're on your own (Unless you get 5 on all your AP exams, which you get exempted from 1st year science but that's not recommended because 2nd year science requires you to really know your shit!!). I find that AP is mostly for acceptance into middle to top universities. I took AP english, but it was kind of like normal english - only with the AP curriculum and more things to read/harder material. It didn't really prepare me that well for university english...it's with actually taking a whole bunch of english classes that helped. I would have liked to take AP art and AP chemistry because if you're planning to go into chemistry, lots and lots of exposure helps...

Wow. Just, wow. I guess it really depends on the school and the teachers (and the students too ... I think there were a few arrogant jerks in my classes too, but most of them at my school were too dumb for advanced classes). Pretty depressing ...

I was going to say that, lol...you must have had a relatively pleasant time. Which is good. Hah...I know what kind of people you mean and yes, they are all tools.

I like my teachers so far, but I must say taking an ap class was the DUMBEST thing I ever did. I took AP stats last year of highschool and now that I'm taking real math again in college its so darned confusing.

Haha see. AP can either help you by skipping your first year (if you did all the classes and got 5 on the AP final) or can mess you up. For me it, was neutral but I wish I hadn't taken it with those tools.

AP Art History, eh...are you planning to major in the humanities?
Yeah, Art History is pretty interesting and fun if you like it (which you do). I would have LOVED to major in it, except that the jobs are limited to curator in museum or professor...(probably have to do a Ph.D in it too).
