I have recently finished watching the uncut first season of this show. I have also read the comic collection called a right to be hostile last year. Man is this a good series! It is incredibly funny. Even though that is true it manages to be funny without being completely tasteless. It has a pretty unique look on racism and has a way off bringing out a moral in a not so obvious way (similar to southpark). Also the animation and soundtrack are top notch. Especially the into song. So have you guys seen this anime? What do you think about it? Do you like it?
Does Boondocks count as "anime"?
To answer the question of the thread, I haven't seen the Boondocks animation, but I have enjoyed the original comic strip on occasion.
To answer The Magpie's question, if you define "anime" as Japanese animation (as many non-Japanese fans do; it certainly makes things less confusing), then it doesn't count (though of course, that brings up a new set of issues--how Japanese does it have to be to be anime? But I digress). But, in Japan, "anime" simply refers to all "animation," so then, yeah, it's anime. So, really, it all depends on your definition

So, really, it all depends on your definition
If one defines anime as an art style (big eyes, small mouth, weird hair, etc.) then The Boondocks qualifies. If one insists that there is something specifically Asian about anime (see the thread about "why do you like anime"), then it doesn't. I'm not arguing for one definition or another.
Doesn't really matter who makes it or where it was made. Nor does the art style. Anime is just animation to me. I don't think it matters either way does it? I mean it's dumb to ask "Does that count as anime?" isn't it? Anyway that isn't the point of this thread. I liek Huey the best. Because
