Sailormoon? XD. Hey, I was well into the mahou shoujo genre - Magic Knight Rayearth, and so forth... but Shoujo Kakumei Utena sort of broke it for me. It seriously was the weirdly symbolic "mahou shoujo" series to end it all. I also really liked Serial Experiment Lain.
Mine is either the first series of Dragonball or Sailormoon. When Pokemon was released, it made me a permanent anime fan.
I've enjoyed several anime series throughout my youth, including Voltron, Tekkaman Blade, Monster Rancher, Digimon and Pokemon (no laughing!). However, to me they were cartoons, no different from Scooby Doo or Transformers.
The first animes that I actually watched and enjoyed with the awareness of anime were Inuyasha, Tenchi Muyo and Rurouni Kenshin.
Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040. My entire love of anime stemmed from that. I'd be up till 3 in morning just waiting to watch it when I had cable.
Well I guess technically it was pokemon but what made me hardcore was Ninja Scroll and Steel Angel Karumi.
sailor moon n doraemon were the ones that got me hooked on anime. when i was bak in da philippines

those were the ones that got me hooked on anime
The first anime I watched was Voltes V. It was Akazukin Cha-Cha that got me hooked and it was Fushigi Yuugi that made me an addict... Fushigi Yuugi still stands as my all-time favorite anime ^^
The first anime I watched was Carpcaptor Sakura - Japanese audio and Chinese subtitles. I watched it again on my local TV, which is Mandarin-dubbed, a bit weird-sounding though, not as adorable and innocent.
The first one that got me hooked? Probably Cardcaptor Sakura (dubbed English version) or Digimon. Ooh, and Sailor Moon. I loved those shows so much ^_^
And Cardcaptors was on TV when I was 9, so 7 years ago (eeks).
But I still watch things like Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Pokemon.
I wish Cardcaptors was back on TV...*sigh*
