I don't watch fansubs or scanlations. It's not much joy to keep scrolling and staring at the computer screen. I would much rather read the actual manga printed on paper (it's affordable and convenient to bring around).

For preview, I normally just rent the 1st volume of a manga title that looks interesting or that was recommended, and then decide whether it's worth pursuing.

I download scanlations and I watch anime online. I don't download fansubs because it takes forever. And I do eventually buy the ones that I like from The Right Stuf through mail order catalog. I spend the little bit of money that I have on that.
