I'm not a fan of Live Action films and series and I've seen a few but never really liked any. I have the live action version of Grave of the Fireflies although I haven't watched it yet. It sounds interesting though and is probably good.

My questions:
  • Is there Live action movie or series that you've seen that you really liked? What is it?
  • What current anime series or movie that doesn't have a live action that you would like to see have a live action version?
I'm assuming you're just talking about live action based on anime/manga, right? ^^; I've seen a few that I wasn't very impressed with as well. Honey & Clover didn't live up to the wonderful anime, the first Death Note movie was underwhelming (though L = <3), and Devilman was just ... *snickers*. But there are some good ones -- I've heard lots of praise for the Nodame Cantabile dorama (I keep meaning to watch it ^^; ) and personally thought the Kimi wa Petto dorama was really funny and cute. I've only seen the first of the Nana movies, but I liked it too. Even the goofy costuming of the Boogiepop live action didn't make it awful, though I don't know if I'd really want to see it again. There are quite a few that are out that I'd like to see, like the second Nana movie and the Mushishi live action.

As for ones I'd like to see made into live action ... hmm. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (aka Rumbling Hearts) could be a really good or really bad dorama, depending on the skill of the actors involved, and Saiunkoku Monogatari could make for a really awesome live action (just think of the gorgeous costumes! *_*). I guess I'm hesitant to wish for any fantasy/sci-fi/mecha as live action, because while they would look really cool if well done, I doubt they could get the budget they'd need.
Guyer just for the fact it is laughable, in English, and has mark hammel. though I do want to see the Death Note one with the Iron Cheif Guy who plays someone dad. Though I agree with Senna I would love of sci-fi/mecha but I want a huge budget on it to keep it away form B movie style
I used to join a forum that's been watching out for DBZ live action for years already. I wasn't there because I wanted a DBZ live action but to make fun of those who're still hoping it will come out. ^_^
I don't really watch live action. Real people can never live up to the awesome craziness of anime and manga. Best live action I saw (that I remember seeing) is probably Hana Yori Dango, but even then there was some mediocrity involved. Seriously, best actor in the entire show is probably the protagonist's mom lol.

I don't know if someone crazy enough actually made it yet, but I'd love to see full metal alchemist getting some live action LOL. I could almost picture some chibi Japanese walking alongside a suit of plastic armor trying to perform some crappy 3rd rate CG alchemy. XD Would love to see what the human interpretation of Hughes, Armstrong and Gluttony look like too lol.

...For some reason, tokusatsu comes to mind. XD Would be hilarious if ginko enters some random transformation sequence lol. Or the mushi transforms into some giant mecha creature, that'd be awesome too.

LOL, DBZ live action. I can't even begin to imagine how unbelievably corny and crappy that must be like. It'll hit the charts alright, for all the wrong reasons. XD

I liked the live action version of Basilisk. Oboro is a much stronger character there. The special effects were a lot better than I expected them to be. Unfortunately, some of the most interesting characters from the anime get no screen time in the movie. The ending is very different. Since both the anime and the movie are based on a novel, I can't help but wonder which is closer to the original book. It is always hard to make anime attacks seem plausible in live action, but the Basilisk movie restored my faith in the possibility.
I think Rurouni Kenshin would be a good candidate for a live action version. There aren't truely over the top fighting powers and a lot of the focus is on character interaction, rather than fighting.

Wow! I'm gonna have to agree here. Not just because I'm a huge huge RK fan. It's going to come out like a Japanese epic movie. ^_^

Yeah. Black Lagoon would make a nice live action show too. I also think Monster live action would be good.
I just watched the Densha Otoko/Train Man movie tonight, and it was really enjoyable. Granted, it only shares the same source material as the manga do (as opposed to being based on the manga), but still.
