I hope this isn't *too* off-topic ... On Friday I got my laptop back after missing it for over two weeks -- it had to be sent out for a replacement touchpad. Since I have a bad habit of personifying inanimate objects (I missed my laptop so much it was almost creepy), I decided that it was finally time to name my laptop, now that it's been through some trouble The question: What should I name it?

Some Options:
Omoikane, the name of the Nadesico's computer in (what else?) Nadesico. Has lots of personality
Shiroe, a brilliant, sometimes cute, sometimes annoying character from Terra e. Likes "Peter Pan."
Florian, a replica from the video game Tales of the Abyss. Means "innocent one."
Strelitzia, the name of a space ship in an original fiction piece my friends are writing. Another name for the Bird of Paradise flower.

Or ... something else all together Please give your suggestions here! If it helps, my laptop is fairly big, and the keyboard/base is black with silver trim. The touchpad and the back of the screen are also silver.

Also, have any of you named your computers, or am I just weird? (And if you have named yours, please tell me what you call it!)

Omoikane, Omoikane, Omoikane Nadescio is full of win. Or though Lain is a good name or Navi (been watching Lain lately) and my Desktop is Scima.chan (changed the extension) and my laptop is Ringo.chan, so I had my whole network set up though air gear characters/terms, lol

I didn't know that people named their laptops o.O? I didn't name my piece of crap computer.

Lol. I didn't either. And mine is a piece of crap too.

Heh, I don't think most people do ^^ Then again, a lot of people I know have named their cars, so ...

crap I'm two for two my car has a name too, ^^;

LOL.. I don't even name my pets! I have like 9 cats and I call them all "pusa" which means "cat" in our language.

Picked other. I say Sumomo(Chobits).

And just like everyone else, this is the first I've heard of someone naming their laptop, though the point is well proven with people who name their cars.

You should name you laptop Nyu(Elfen Lied), that way it's still named after the coolest character ever without the homicidal tendencies.

I've named both my old desktops and my laptop but I still refuse to give my cat a name (although the rest of the family thinks her name is Sushi).

I really don't think its all that odd to name a computer/laptop since it makes networking them slightly easier... yah, thats my and I'm sticking to it ;P
